Totalfinder is Totally Awesome
Many Mac users out there will agree with me in saying that the Finder.app is pretty much top notch and can’t be beaten, however over at Binaryage there is one guy who thinks it can certainly be improved with his popular software TotalFinder. Lets see if TotalFinder is best left hidden or must have piece of software that is worth seeking out!
TotalFinder is a full Finder replacement thats sits on top of Finder.app which means no learning a full file browser again, just install and go. TotalFinder has set out with one main goal, tidying up those cluttered desktops and merge them into one window with those oh so brilliant tabs that everyone has come to love on nearly every desktop web browser. As well as tabs TotalFinder also brings other useful features to the table like a side by side view port, Folders on top features and a vast amount of other features that will make your directory and file browsing a dream.
Basic browsing in TotalFinder is just as smooth as browsing Finder, but why make the switch then if TotalFinders basic browsing is just on par with the original? TotalFinder’s features really come out an shine when you try and do some of the more advance tasks such as open multiple windows you no longer need to have masses of finder windows open as TotalFinder caters for pretty much every situation. Like doing multiple things at once jumping back and forth between folders well with tabs you no longer have to use exposé, just hit cmd+t and a new tab just like any modern web browser.
What happens when you want to copy a file from one folder to another or just want to compare a folder structure, again Binaryage thought of this and introduced a dual view tab. Dual view tabs combines two tabs into one large tab with a folder on each side of the dual tab this allows for an easy and effective way to copy files to another location or just perform a simple compare, activating this feature couldn’t be easier as well just get two tabs and double click on the latest tab to combine the two.
Ok so here another nifty feature that frankly sells the software to me(as if it already needed to!). Say your creating your next Mona Lisa in photoshop and you want to import a lovely image that will lend itself to the artwork, easy just activate visor mode in preferences and hit option+` and what do you know a windows appears from the bottom of the screen allowing you to find the image and drag it into photo then all you need to do then is click away and you can carry back on with out worrying about another unnecessary window.

Visor Ability Allowing easy access to Folders
Overall the improvements that TotalFinder brings to Finder.app is second to none, and will be quickly become a must have application that will just make my Mac experience that much better! Do I recommend TotalFinder? Of course I do!
Download a trial of TotalFinder today at Binaryage and try this brilliant software for yourself.
